OU Medical Center
A Great Place to Work!
|
On
February 5, 1998, the University Hospitals Authority entered into a Joint
Operating Agreement (JOA) with HCA Health Services of Oklahoma, Inc., a
subsidiary of the Hospital Corporation of America inc. (HCA). The agreement
completed the largest and most comprehensive privatization in Oklahoma history.
The privatization consists of a long-term lease arrangement between the
University Hospitals Trust and HCA Health Services of Oklahoma, Inc. to lease,
manage and operate the University Hospitals.
This historic partnership combined University Hospital, Children's Hospital of
Oklahoma, the O'Donoghue Rehabilitation Institute and Presbyterian Hospital to
create the OU Medical Center. The mission of the Joint Operating Agreement
(JOA) is to be a catalyst for medical excellence, to support medical education,
clinical research and to assure the best care is available to all Oklahoma
citizens, while growing essential alliances and maximizing utilization of State
and Federal resources.
OU Medical Center is Oklahoma' s largest and most diverse hospital, OUMC has
the distinct advantage of having both academic and private physicians on staff,
thereby providing Oklahoma's citizens with the best of both worlds - the
commitment to patient care and the skill to train future generations of
physicians.
OUMC doctors are highly recruited national experts and faculty members at the
University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. They are focused on the
discovery of new medical innovations and world-class patient care. This
affiliation ensures that advanced research, technology and treatment options
are available to OUMC patients.
Investment in medical technology, equipment and medical facilities has been
significant. The University Hospitals Authority and Trust and HCA Health
Services of Oklahoma, Inc. have combined investments of over $180 million on
the campus to ensure the latest in technology and facilities design for the
citizens of Oklahoma.

| OU Physicians' Group |
With over 400 doctors, OU Physicians is Oklahoma's largest physician group. Our
practice encompasses almost every adult and child specialty. Many OU Physicians
have expertise in the management of complex conditions that's unavailable
anywhere else in the state, region or sometimes even the nation. Some have
pioneered surgical procedures or innovations in patient care that are world
firsts.
More than 125 of our doctors are OU Children's Physicians.
These board-certified pediatric specialists committed their training and, now,
their practices to the care of children. They treat thousands of kids each
year. Many children with birth defects, critical injuries or serious diseases
who can't be helped elsewhere come to OU Children's Physicians. Oklahoma
doctors and parents rely on OU Children's Physicians depth of experience, nationally
renowned expertise and sensitivity to children's emotional needs.
OU Physicians see patients in their offices at the OU Health Sciences Center
and in Edmond, Enid and other cities around Oklahoma. We serve as faculty
at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and train the
region's future physicians.

Oklahoma City is not only a quality place to live, it is an easy place to live.
With all the amenities of a large city, low traffic congestion and an excellent
ground transportation system, and affordable cost of living, you can devote
more time and energy to things you care about.
You will find the American Dream alive and well in Oklahoma City...especially
when you consider the high value and low cost of housing in Oklahoma City. In
fact, an Ernst and Young study showed Oklahoma City to have the lowest-cost
executive-level homes in America. From south to north, east to
west and beyond, Oklahoma City offers a wide choice of desirable neighborhoods
and housing styles to suit your lifestyle. Architectural styles range from
historical preservation to newly developed.
A billion-dollar renaissance has seen sweeping changes and
improvements across nearly every sector of Oklahoma City. Significant downtown
business development has accompanied the renovation of convention, cultural and
educational sites. Landmark projects such as the mile-long Bricktown Canal have
infused a new life and vibrancy into the Southwest's fastest-growing
entertainment district. And neighborhood programs citywide have
helped restore historic homes and buildings to their original luster.
Oklahoma City is going places, and so are its people. They're
off to the Ballet. Museums. Theatre. Golf courses. Philharmonic. Malls. To the
lake, zoo, theme parks and the big game.
No wonder Places Rated Almanac cited Oklahoma City as one of the "Best
Places To Live In North America." It's affordable. It's desirable.
It is...a better living, a better life.
