The Medical Center of Aurora
On December 8, 1974, 200-bed Aurora Community Hospital opened its doors just one month ahead of Aurora Presbyterian Hospital, located some three miles north on Potomac Street. Over the next two decades, both hospitals operated through separate organizations. In November,1995 a joint venture between HealthONE and HCA, The Healthcare Company (then Columbia/HCA), the two Aurora hospitals became part of the same system.
The Medical Center of Aurora with its South Campus and North Campus is one of the largest employers in Aurora with a combined total of about 1,200 employees. TMCA helps meet the emergency health and accident needs of the entire eastern metro area and I-70 corridor. The Level II Trauma Center sees more the 75,000 emergency patients each year. Additionally, the hospital maintains strong support of local civic groups, churches, schools, fire, rescue and law enforcement agencies.
